Here’s another one from my journal xxx

I am the love that I seek

I am the happiness that I try to find

I am the tears that I hold inside

I am the joy that I long for

I am the laughter that eludes me

I am the peace that I can’t seem to find

I am the smile that dances across my lips

I am the adoration I feel so easily for others

I am the greatness that for fleeting moments I feel on the inside

And one day I hope

One day I’ll find

That I am all those things that I seek on the outside

I am what I’ve been looking for all this time.

My go-to smoothie recipe http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/my-go-to-smoothie-recipe.html http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/my-go-to-smoothie-recipe/#respond Mon, 11 May 2020 08:51:34 +0000 http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/my-go-to-smoothie-recipe.html

Here’s a quick and easy smoothie recipe that is both nutritious and delicious! If I’m running late in the mornings and don’t have time to sit down and have my usual bowl of muesli and fruit, then this is my go-to. I’ll sip on it while I’m getting ready or take it to go.

All you’ll need is:

1 banana

Half an apple

Frozen berries (I usually use blackberries which are high in Vitamin C)

Soy milk (you can substitute this with another nut milk if you prefer)

Pop your ingredients in the blender, blitz away and enjoy!

For an option that includes some leafy greens (don’t worry, you hardly taste them), I substitute the berries for spinach or kale and sometimes add a date for some added sweetness.

If you try this recipe, I’d love to know what you think. Let me know below.

The DiY bug has bitten http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/the-diy-bug-has-bitten.html http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/the-diy-bug-has-bitten/#respond Sun, 10 May 2020 18:14:02 +0000 http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/the-diy-bug-has-bitten.html

I’ve been wanting to make my apartment more of a home for the longest time but honestly, I never made time for it. That is until lockdown meant I had all the time in the world to get to the things that I’ve always wanted to do, like starting this website and painting cupboards.

Since finishing this project, I’ve put up a kitchen shelf and made my own stencil (with the help of my stepdad) so that I could do some spray painting. My DiY list is growing and my apartment is starting to feel a lot more like home.

Here is the video I shot of the process.

5 binge worthy Netflix series http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/5-binge-worthy-netflix-series-2.html http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/5-binge-worthy-netflix-series-2/#respond Sun, 10 May 2020 17:40:33 +0000 http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/5-binge-worthy-netflix-series-2.html

There are a few things I like to do to unwind – spend time on the beach, meditate in my living room and binge watch a good series. The only problem is that when I log onto Netflix, it takes me some time to find the right series for the mood I’m in.

If I’m getting ready to binge, it’s got to be a series that has a good story line, interesting characters and it must evoke some sort of emotion. The last thing I want is to feel like I wasted 3-hours of my life and didn’t even get a good laugh out of it. With this in mind, I’ve put together a list of five series that I think are binge worthy.

Ozark

If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad, chances are that this is binge worthy for you too. Jason Bateman stars as financial advisor, Marty Byrd, in this drama series. Marty finds himself in impossible situations as a money launderer for a Mexican drug cartel. He moves his family from Chicago to a resort in the Ozarks (Missouri) but resort-life seems to be more complicated than the life they left behind in Chicago.

Tiger King

I feel like this series needs to come with a warning. Something like, ‘be prepared to step into the twilight zone’. This mini-series looks at the crazy underworld of the breeding of big cats. To be honest, I wouldn’t have usually watched this but there was so much hype about it that I decided to check it out. It’s still hard for me to believe that Joe Exotic and the other characters in this series are real people. If you’re ready to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes or just want to know what all the memes are about then this one’s for you.

Modern Family

This is a series I can watch over and over again – it always has me laughing from start to finish. There’s something for everyone from Phil who tries so hard to be the cool dad, Manny who is way ahead of his time to Alex the sarcastic genius and Gloria the jaw-droppingly beautiful Colombian who is married to much older businessman, Jay. If you’re looking for a light watch to help you unwind, this could be the one.

You

If you’re looking for a series that will keep you on the edge of your seat – this is it! Starring Pen Badgely (Gossip Girl fans will know exactly who he is), this psychological thriller is about a charming Book Store Manager who inserts himself in the lives of those he becomes obsessed with. This series really had me thinking about how much personal information we share on social media and how accessible we really are.

The Good Place

If you’ve had a stressful week and are looking for a light watch then The Good Place is for you. This fantasy comedy stars Kristen Bell who at the end of a pretty selfish existence finds herself in heaven. It explores interesting topics in a light-hearted way like, can ‘bad people’ learn to be ‘good people’, what classifies you as a ‘bad person’ and how is the whole ‘good vs bad’ thing measured? The characters are exaggerated for comedic effect and it gave me a good laugh.

Are there any series that you would add to this binge worthy list? Let me know in the comments below.

Showing up for myself http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/showing-up-for-myself.html http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/showing-up-for-myself/#respond Sun, 10 May 2020 17:29:33 +0000 http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/showing-up-for-myself.html

Believe it or not I was the kid at school that would use every excuse in the book to get out of taking part in sport or anything active for that matter. It’s not that I didn’t like being active, I was just really self-conscious. I was afraid of putting myself out there and feeling embarrassed and so I didn’t try at all. I didn’t give myself the chance to see if I enjoyed it or not.

It’s funny how people see you as apposed to how you feel on the inside. If you ask some of the people I went to school with, they’d probably say I was confident and talkative and a bit of a rebel.  But what I felt on the inside most of the time was fear. Fear of being embarrassed or somehow ending up the laughing stock and so I held myself back from doing a lot of things during that time in my life.

Fast forward a few years and now I can’t imagine my life without some sort of exercise. How did I make the change? I did a lot of work on accepting myself, quirks and all. I started challenging myself to try the things that interested me regardless of what others would think or say. It was and still is tough sometimes, but I do my best to push through.

During this process of pushing through, I realised that once I was in the gym I actually enjoyed being active. I enjoyed how my body and mind felt afterwards but most of all I enjoyed the feeling I got after completing an exercise or a set of reps that I never thought I’d be able to do.

I remember having a conversation with myself about the benefits that exercise held for me physically, mentally and emotionally and decided that I would use it as a tool to invest in myself. Once I made that commitment to myself, it got harder to flake on a gym session because it would mean that I was flaking on myself and that I wasn’t willing to do.

I’m still not the greatest athlete or as fit as I would like to be but what’s important to me is that I continue to show up for myself in whatever form that may be. That I continue to honour the commitments I make to myself because I am worth it.

I choose http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/i-choose.html http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/i-choose/#respond Sun, 10 May 2020 13:07:48 +0000 http://tamarasnow.co.za/blog/i-choose.html

I was looking back in my journal the other day and came across this piece of writing that I did. I thought I’d share it with you xxx

I am love.

Not the soppy kind in the movies

The unconditional kind that is strong yet gentle

Purposeful yet unforced

Determined.

I am always evolving

Becoming more of me

The process may not look or feel pretty sometimes but it’s always worth it.

And I’m becoming comfortable with that.

I am choosing to close my eyes and trust.

Trust that my inner guidance will see me through

That my heart will lead me exactly where I need to be

And that what is meant for me is on its way.

I am choosing to close my eyes and believe.

Believe that I am love personified

That I am part of the beautiful tapestry of creation

And that I matter.

I am choosing to close my eyes and feel grateful.

Grateful that I have the opportunity to learn and grow and express

That I am becoming more of myself in every moment

And that I am who I am.

I am choosing to close my eyes and to shine my light.

Brighter

And brighter

And brighter.
